Meet the Founder

Hi!

My name is Kym, Founder and Managing Director of Bubble'n'Kick Swim School.

Swimming has always been a huge part of my life, from swimming training through school, waterskiing with cousins and friends on the holidays, lifeguarding and swim teaching through university, and taking any opportunity to go swimming and scuba diving whenever I can get the sporadic day off!

Meet the founder of Bubble'n'Kick Swim School

At 19 I was lifeguarding at a regional country pool, when I was faced with the confronting incident of resuscitating a 4-year-old boy post near-drowning. Grateful for my extensive training not only in lifeguarding but as a student paramedic at the time, my resuscitation attempts were successful, and this 4-year-old little boy made a full recovery with no brain deficits. It was in these moments I realised not only how quickly and seemingly quietly drowning can happen, but how preventable it could be if everyone was equipped with the swimming and water safety skills, that I had previously taken for granted.

This is the inspiration behind Bubble'n'Kick Swim School. To be able to equip our local communities with both the water safety and survival skills, swimming skills and techniques, and emergency response training. To ensure our communities can safely enjoy all aquatic activities and envrionments. To have the peace of mind that if an incident was to occur we are equipped with skills and training that could essentially save a life!

My commitment to empowering our local communities with skills and knowledge is not limited to just our Learn-to-Swim program. Bubble'n'Kick is partnered with the Royal Lifesaving Society QLD (RTO 5431) to be able to deliver further education and training that is current, thorough, and nationally accredited. These courses include but are not limited to First Aid, CPR and Bronze Medalion.

I also believe that everyone has the right to learn to swim; regardless of their age, background, ability or disability. We all learn differently, respond to different teaching styles, take longer or less time mastering different skills- and fears- and we all need help along the way.

This is why Bubble'n'Kick not only promotes acceptance and inclusion, my team undergo additional training and education to better understand and adapt to what our students bring to the pool on any given day. Including but not limited to infants and toddler specialties, Autism, Deaf and Hearing-Impaired training, physical and cognitive disability training, language other than English training, and teaching adults and mature-aged swimmers specialties.
